Christian Education Travel Study<br />

A program <strong>of</strong> study involving research, travel, reporting, and evaluating some aspect <strong>of</strong> the educational enterprise. Such events<br />

are group oriented and use the group process as well as the course content to enhance learning. (Prerequisite: Instructor<br />

Permission)<br />

Educational Administration (F)<br />

An examination <strong>of</strong> the most important aspects <strong>of</strong> administration, how to recruit volunteers, how to care for them, and how to help<br />

them move the educational program <strong>of</strong> the church toward the mission Christ gave the Church. (Prerequisite: CEDU241)<br />

CEDU453 3 units<br />

Christian Spirituality<br />

This course seeks to engage the student in the spiritual formation process through the writings and interpretation <strong>of</strong> a body <strong>of</strong><br />

literature, built throughout history, known as devotional classics. Students will be expected to define Christian spirituality and<br />

contrast its interpretation from five traditions: Contemplative, Holiness, Pentecostal or Charismatic, Social Justice, and<br />

Evangelical. Prerequisite: LDRS152 or LDRS352 Contemporary Discipleship.<br />

Spiritual Direction<br />

An introduction to the history and theory <strong>of</strong> spiritual direction from a Biblical and experiential perspective. Specific focus is on<br />

assisting others in deepening their relationship with God through increased sensitivity and responsiveness to the Holy Spirit's<br />

presence and work in all areas <strong>of</strong> life. Prerequisite: CEDU453 Christian Spirituality.<br />

CEDU472 3 units<br />

Christian Formation and Discipleship (S) Capstone Course<br />

Bringing together a rich journey <strong>of</strong> classroom and field experiences, the student will write and reflect on his/her own journey and<br />

envision a future <strong>of</strong> service. The application <strong>of</strong> the college experience either by a major contribution to the field <strong>of</strong> Christian<br />

education, or by an application <strong>of</strong> sound educational philosophy to an educational aspect <strong>of</strong> the Church is the project and<br />

opportunity for the final integration <strong>of</strong> faith and learning in the undergraduate program in Christian Education. (Prerequisites: 2<br />

CEDU concentration courses, CEDU241, CEDU450, and an approved Internship)<br />

CEDU475 3 units<br />

Christian Education Internship<br />

Building on the learning experiences from the concentration, the student will apply classroom learning to a direct field experience.<br />

In the context <strong>of</strong> a teaching environment, the student will engage in an important aspect <strong>of</strong> ministry, reflect on that experience<br />

with a field supervisor and build a personal portfolio <strong>of</strong> educational experience. This course is the designated service learning<br />

course within this major. Service credit can be earned for successful completion <strong>of</strong> this course. (Prerequisites: 2 CEDU<br />

concentration courses, CEDU 241, CEDU450, and an approved Internship Proposal)<br />

CEDU476 3 units<br />

Principalship and Leadership in Christian Education<br />

Exploring leadership in the Church and in Christian schools, this course will review the important constants and opportunities in<br />

being a school administrator. Focus on supporting the Christian school movement and home schooling parents make this course<br />

practical and focused. (Prerequisites: two CE concentration courses, CEDU 301, CEDU 450, instructor permission)<br />
