An introduction to MIDI use, including s<strong>of</strong>tware options, programming, and composition. This course satisfies technology<br />

A deeper look into Sibelius notation s<strong>of</strong>tware use, this course satisfies technology requirements. (Prerequisites: MUS272 and 274)<br />

Western Music to 1750 (F: odd years)<br />

A study <strong>of</strong> the music <strong>of</strong> Western Civilization from antiquity through the mid 1700s. The course will reference both secular and<br />

sacred music. Students will explore the lives and music <strong>of</strong> major genres, musicians and composers from the covered periods <strong>of</strong><br />

music. (Prerequisites: MUS272 and 274, or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor)<br />

Western Music from 1750 (S: odd years)<br />

A study <strong>of</strong> the music <strong>of</strong> Western Civilization’s musical development from Mozart through contemporary composers.<br />

A seminar covering the forms, composers, instrumentation, style and developments <strong>of</strong> the Baroque period <strong>of</strong> music from 1685-<br />

Hymnology<br />

A study <strong>of</strong> the development <strong>of</strong> Christian hymnody from early times to the present. Discussions <strong>of</strong> the composition, performance,<br />

and relevance <strong>of</strong> hymns will be included. (Prerequisites: MUS272 and 274, or consent <strong>of</strong> instructor)<br />
