2010-2011<br />
Cal Grant B & Cal Grant B Access: This state grant is available for California residents only from low-income, disadvantaged<br />
backgrounds who have high potential and demonstrate financial need. In the first year <strong>of</strong> college, a student would receive an<br />
Access Grant only – $1,551 for books and living expenses. The Financial Aid Office will apply the Access Grant to a student’s<br />
charges at WJU each year unless a written request is submitted to the Financial Aid Office requesting the money be disbursed<br />
directly to the student. In subsequent years, the award will consist <strong>of</strong> the normal Cal Grant amount plus the Access Grant<br />
(disbursement policy for the Access Grant applies each year).<br />
California Chafee Grant: This state grant is available for foster youth, and former foster youth to use for career training and/or<br />
college courses. To qualify, you must be eligible, or have been eligible, for Independent Living Program (ILP) Services between<br />
your 16th and 18th birthdays and have not reached your 22nd birthday by July <strong>of</strong> the award year. More information and a<br />
supplemental application can be found on the California Student Aid Commission website – www.csac.ed.gov.<br />
Institutional Aid<br />
WJU <strong>of</strong>fers various tuition scholarships, grants and awards to new and returning students in the traditional program only.<br />
Currently there are no Institutional Scholarships available to students in the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Studies</strong>. Application<br />
information can be requested from the Financial Aid Office or viewed on our website at www.jessup.edu/financialaid/institutional-aid.<br />
Note that some grants require a specific application. Application for all institutional aid must be made by the<br />
priority deadline <strong>of</strong> May 1 unless otherwise specified in the following information.<br />
The following are available to all traditional WJU students. Please note that institutional aid may be coordinated to create a<br />
package <strong>of</strong> up to 50% <strong>of</strong> tuition for commuter students and up to 100% <strong>of</strong> tuition for students living on campus.<br />
Academic Scholarships: <strong>William</strong> <strong>Jessup</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers academic scholarships to entering first-time freshmen and transfer<br />
students who meet the set minimum academic criteria. These scholarship awards are based on the academic GPA from <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />
transcripts calculated at the time <strong>of</strong> admission to the <strong>University</strong>. A student’s college GPA will be used if the student has graduated<br />
from high school and completed at least 24 semester or 36 quarter units <strong>of</strong> academically solid college courses. Otherwise, a<br />
combination <strong>of</strong> the student’s college and high school GPA, as well as SAT/ACT scores will be used to determine the award. In this<br />
case, the transfer dollar amount will be the amount awarded.<br />
First-time Freshman Academic Scholarships<br />
WJU Scholar Award<br />
This award is <strong>of</strong>fered to one first-time freshman entering the traditional undergraduate program on the basis <strong>of</strong> academic<br />
achievement and a response to an essay question. Applicants must meet minimum eligibility requirements to be considered for<br />
this award. The supplemental application can be found on the WJU web site under financial aid. This scholarship is renewable in<br />
the student’s subsequent years at WJU if the student maintains a 3.50 GPA.<br />
Amount: $12,500<br />
Min. GPA: 3.85 AND<br />
Min. ACT: 29 OR Min. SAT 1300<br />
Presidential Scholar Award I<br />
This award will be granted to all entering first-time freshmen in the traditional undergraduate program who meet the eligibility<br />
requirements below. This scholarship is renewable in the student’s subsequent years at WJU if the student maintains a 3.00 GPA.<br />
Amount: $8,000<br />
Min GPA: 3.75 AND<br />
Min. ACT: 27 OR Min SAT: 1200<br />
