(a) Imagine yesterday was your birthday, and a special person (parent, sibling <strong>or</strong> best<br />

friend) gave you a birthday card. You opened the envelope and found a NZ $50 note<br />

in cash.<br />

What thoughts and feelings come to mind? List the w<strong>or</strong>ds that come immediately to<br />

mind. Do not analyse your responses. Do not think about the w<strong>or</strong>ds. Just write<br />

down your first thoughts - even if you think they are odd <strong>or</strong> strange. Try to complete<br />

the task in no m<strong>or</strong>e than 3 minutes.<br />

Consider the following scenario and write a brief paragraph describing how you would<br />

behave in relation to the type and number <strong>of</strong> things you would buy.<br />

Your salary was deposited into your bank account that you use f<strong>or</strong> day to day expenses and<br />

bills. Any money remaining after you have paid f<strong>or</strong> the expenses is transferred to savings<br />

account end <strong>of</strong> every month.<br />

Think <strong>of</strong> a weekly grocery shopping in a supermarket where you budgeted to spend only<br />

$200 and you only have the option <strong>of</strong> using cash to pay f<strong>or</strong> the purchases.<br />

Write few sentences describing how you would behave in relation to the type and number <strong>of</strong><br />

things you would buy.
