Chapitre 8 Résumé 201 Détection de coïncidences dans les neurones bruités Comment les neurones calculent-ils ? Deux théories s’opposent : les neurones pourraient intégrer temporellement leurs entrées bruitées (théories fréquentielles) ou ils pourraient détecter des potentiels d’action coïncidents (théories impulsionnelles). Des corrélations fines ont été observées dans de nombreuses zones du système nerveux, mais elles pourraient avoir un impact mineur. Pour répondre à ce problème, nous utilisons une approche probabiliste pour quantifier l’impact des coïncidences sur la réponse neuronale en présence de bruit synaptique. Nous trouvons que lorsque l’excitation et l’inhibition sont équilibrées, comme c’est le cas dans le cortex sensoriel in vivo, des corrélations dans une très faible proportion des entrées résultent en une augmentation très sensible de la fréquence de décharge en sortie. Nos résultats théoriques sont expérimentalement validés par des enregistrements in vitro dans des neurones corticaux chez la souris. Nous concluons que les neurones bruités sont si sensibles aux coïncidences qu’une description de la computation neuronale basée uniquement sur la fréquence de décharge ne peut probablement pas être précise en général. 1 1.
