Putrajaya will portray a 'garden city' image. Design and
development of this new intelligent Federal Administration Capital city
will be of high design standards and suitability without limiting
architectural creativity or new ideas. The proposed urban design
guidelines are:
• Encourage environment design which suits the equatorial climate
such as providing shelter from sun by using deeper eaves, louvered
windows and veranda, air circulation between buildings and building
interior, pitch roof to facilitate air circulation.
• Encourage shelter from sun and create green atmosphere surrounding
buildings with the introduction of landscaping inside and outside of
buildings such as the provision of roof top garden, courtyards and
plant boxes at various floors.
• Make use of pedestrian mall, arcade or covered shopping area to link
public or commercial buildings as one of the community facilities
during sunny and rainy days.
• There should be control on billboards, advertisement, lamps, etc.
(including building renovations) to ensure good visual quality.
• Encourage provision of courtyards as an internal community facility,
natural lighting in the building and permit proper internal air
circulation.
