Garis Panduan Perancangan
• The design of street and garden furnitures such as water fountains,
planter boxes, sculptures, billboards, etc. should promote sense of
beauty creativity and respect for the noble and positive values as spelt
out in the Total Planning Doctrine.
• Provide adequate facilities for the disabled and elderly.
• Provide residential facilities in the city centre in order to make it lively,
safe and economically feasible (in terms of optimising the use of
commercial space).
• Central open areas are to be provided with adequate shading.
Junctions and crossings should be provided with shaded squares and
courts.
• Adequate, comfortable, accessible and safe car parking facilities for
residents and visitors should be provided according to planning
standards.
• Commercial buildings/complexes should be low rise (with exception of
'landmark' buildings subject to the plot ratio, and other site
development control).
• Building designs should emphasise on quality finishes and quality
landscaping.
• Building designs emanate a strong sense of character and identity
• 'Box-like or slab-shaped' building designs should be avoided.
• Historical, cultural and unique architectural buildings (if any) should
be conserved.
• Hawker centres should be properly planned, designed and equipped
with adequate facilities such as car parking, seating, landscaping,
garden furniture, etc.
• Every shopping or commercial complex should provide a proper food
court or hawkers centre.
• Promote and encourage innovative building designs which consist of
unique and attractive urban design elements such as internal
courtyard/garden, arches, pergolas, squares, modern sculptures,
abstract monuments, etc.
