9.31.5 OPEN SPACES AND RECREATION
• The development elements of Cyberjaya are interconnected by the
overall green network, such as the Regional Park which should act as
the green synergy that should provide the base for the overall green
network.
• Continuos natural open space network should be provided within
Cyberjaya and the surrounding region. These network would connect
indigenous natural environment on the west, the city centre of
Cyberjaya and the hilly areas on the west side of Cyberjaya.
• Develop and maintain a balanced city-wide system of high quality
public open space.
• Gazetted protected areas such as remaining forest reserves,
designated water courses, water bodies and parklands are essential
'green lungs' or eco-systems against incompatible activities or future
development.
• Wilderness parks should be created, where pedestrian tracks for
outdoor and wilderness activities be treated as part of a programme to
promote a healthier lifestyle of living with nature and instilling a
communal eco-cultural sensitivity.
• Appropriate open spaces shall be designed such as meeting places,
plaza squares, promenade, boulevards, open theatres and the like to
cater for day to day activities or for festive events cultural procession
or activities.
• Open space to be well-lit to discourage unhealthy activities such as
mugging and vandalism.
• Guidelines for wetlands are as follows.
• Location of wetlands need to be identified for suitability, control points
need to be established to control water level (Weir); different habitual
requirements need to be satisfied.
• Adequate signage required.
• Safety features required such as emergency phones.
