The Autologous Blood <strong>and</strong> Marrow Transplant Registry reported that age >45<br />

years, less than a complete response to induction chemotherapy, absence of<br />

estrogen receptors, <strong>and</strong> the presence of visceral <strong>and</strong> central nervous system<br />

metastases were associated with a poor outcome after transplant in patients with<br />

metastatic breast cancer. 6<br />

Also influencing outcome was the interval from<br />

diagnosis to the development of metastases, with patients developing metastases
