Accepted by neither Human nor Vampyre these people tend to lead a lonely life. Due to the potent fear and presence of Vampyres across Fenorra there are very few people who will trust a Dhampyr from just meeting them. A Dhampyr is born when a pregnant human woman is bitten and turned into a Vampyre very close to her pregnancy term. When the woman is bitten, during the process of changing into a Vampyre her body will expel the living child inside her. If she is bitten too early in the pregnancy the child within her will die and she will miscarry. When the living child is born from the turning mother it has been slightly affected by the power of the Vampyres blood, thus making them a half vampyre of sorts. The Dhampyr are constantly plagued by the thirst for blood, though they do not need it to survive. Many of them refuse to fall victim to this lust, though it is difficult. Sentient blood to a Dhampyr is like Euphoria, they crave it, especially once they have had a taste. Feeding from a living being does not sustain a Dhampyr in any way. Dhampyr Having the blood of a night creature within them a Dhampyr is uncomfortable and considerably weaker during the day. They can survive during the daylight hours however they will probably not be the first to rush into combat as it is very taxing on their strength to do so. With their extremely pale skin they try to shield themselves from the direct sunlight. The Dhampyr people mature at the same rate as a human, but will not die of old age. Only violent means can permanently kill a Dhampyr. Like their “fathers” Dhampyr have elongated canine teeth and black or grey lips. At a quick glance they may look like a Vampyre however at a closer look they do not have the token sunken eyes of their Vampyre progenitors. Being a solitary people they don’t have much of a society or culture. There are groups of them living together around Fenorra however they tend to have a bit of a Wanderlust. The Dhampyr is unable to have children. This is considered a side effect of the partial Vampyre blood within them. Many Dhampyr have a severe hatred for Vampyres, others have embraced the lifestyle. Many of those who have embraced it have been raised by Vampyres, either by their newly turned mother, or if their mother did not survive the transformation, by their “father” of sorts. Hailing from the plains of Vitrani the Dremair are a simple people. Bound to the earth, their bodies form a symbiosis with crystals which only form in the nearby mines. These crystals are as much a part of the Dremair as the heart that beats in their chest. Believed to be the original creators of Resonance, their lives are bound to their corestones. Living in small villages, they do not have a government so to speak, only village councils and one council which meets only once a year, to discuss trade routes and the like. The pride of the Dremair is their mines. Only the most skilled are chosen to work in the fabled crystal mines, which they defend with their lives. In these mines lies their source of life, their corestones. Of course the true location of the mines is a closely held secret, only known to those that work in the mines themselves. Once a year, there is a coming of age ceremony, where young girls and boys are led blindfolded to the mines, where they are brought in deep, to where the corestones form. One at a time the younglings are unbound and are led through the caverns, searching for their personal stone, their own second heart. In this ceremony, they are bound to their crystal, which comes to life with them, forever sealing their fate what that of their Dremair crystal. For some, the crystal binds into their very flesh, for others, it becomes a talisman, kept with them at all times. But all are unable to be parted from their corestone without great pain. Being bound to a corestone has certain benefits, as all true symbioses do. The crystals are ever growing, and they are protected from plunderers. The Dremair are granted the ability to resonate, by tuning their crystal with those prepared for Crystomancy. Also, their crystals prevent them from being affected by unnatural sleep. But if their crystals are damaged, they instantly fall unconscious, their bodies forcing all their energy to regenerating their corestones. The Dremair people have pale skin, theory is that they have spent so much time underground mining in past generations that their skin lost pigment due to lack of sun. This carries on in further generations now. Their veins are visible through their skin; however the veins appear as a golden color. Their corestones are believed to give them a long life, the average known age of the Dremair reaching 400 years.
