Table 4-3 presents a summary of the results of the existing conditions analysis, for<br />

unsignalized intersection Exeter Street at Blagden Street. The most critical<br />

intersection movement operates at an acceptable level of service (LOS D or better)<br />

under the existing condition, during the weekday morning, weekday evening and<br />

Saturday peak.<br />

The two buildings are well served by public transportation. This includes three<br />

Massachusetts Bay Transportation <strong>Authority</strong> (MBTA) bus lines, the orange and green<br />

subway lines and commuter rail service, as shown in Figure 4-9. All four branches of<br />

the Green Line are accessible at Copley Station, located within one-quarter mile of<br />

the Exeter Residences and slightly over one-quarter mile from 888 Boylston.<br />

Additionally, the <strong>Boston</strong> College (B), Cleveland Circle (C) and Riverside (D) branches<br />

can be accessed at the Hynes Convention Center station located within one-quarter<br />

mile of 888 Boylston and within one-half mile of the Exeter Residences. The<br />

Arborway (E) branch can be accessed from the Prudential Station located within onequarter<br />

mile of both buildings.<br />

Access to the Orange Line as well as the Attleboro/Stoughton, Needham and<br />

Framingham/Worcester Commuter Rail lines is possible from Back Bay Station<br />

located on Dartmouth Street less than one-half mile from the two sites. The<br />

Prudential Center can be accessed completely indoors from Back Bay Station via an<br />

underground tunnel. The Orange Line provides service north through <strong>Boston</strong> and<br />

Charlestown to the northern suburbs and south through Roxbury to Jamaica Plain.<br />

Three MBTA bus routes serve the immediate areas near the site. Route 39 travels<br />

from Back Bay station near the <strong>Project</strong> site to Forest Hills station to the south. It<br />

operates along both Huntington Avenue and Boylston Street near the site and runs<br />

with 5 minute headways during the peak hours. Route 55 carries passengers from<br />

Park Street station to the Fenway neighborhood and typically operates with 30<br />

minute headways throughout the day. It also operates along both Huntington<br />

Avenue and Boylston Street near the site. Route 9 provides service between City<br />

Point in South <strong>Boston</strong> and Copley Station. It uses East Ring Road within the site to<br />

turn around and operates with headways of approximately 10 minutes during the<br />

peak commuting periods.<br />

In accordance with the Scoping Determination and comments received on the<br />

NPC/PNF document, pedestrian and bicycle activities were observed and recorded<br />
