Drug-Free Workplace Policy<br />

Administrative Responsibilities<br />

The ___________________ will designate a drug free coordinator who will:<br />

Develop required practices and procedures to implement and administer this policy.<br />

Develop and implement a drug free awareness program including <strong>the</strong> dissemination of<br />

<strong>the</strong> following.<br />

a. this policy,<br />

b. penalties for violations,<br />

c. dangers of work place drug abuser and<br />

d. information on <strong>the</strong> employee assistance program, including <strong>the</strong> availability of<br />

counseling and rehabilitation.<br />

Answer questions regarding this policy and its administration.<br />

Contract with <strong>the</strong> following.<br />

a. Employee Assistance Program.<br />

b. Medical Review Officer.<br />

c. Certified testing laboratory.<br />

Assure that testers are properly licensed.<br />

Train<br />

a. Supervisors and managers to identify indicators of, and how to address, illegal<br />

drug use.<br />

b. Employees on <strong>the</strong> effects and consequences of drugs on personal health and<br />

safety.<br />

Monitor reasonable suspicion, fitness for duty and random testing activity.<br />

Investigate questioned employee illegal drug use cases.<br />

Develop and maintain a program management information system assuring<br />

confidentiality. Records are maintained for <strong>the</strong> following.<br />

a. Five years - positive and refusals,<br />

b. Two years - training and<br />

c. One year - negatives.<br />
