The International City/County Management Association is <strong>the</strong> professional and educational<br />

organization of more than 8,200 appointed administrators and assistant administrators serving cities,<br />

counties, o<strong>the</strong>r local governments, and regional entities. Its membership also includes directors of<br />

<strong>the</strong> state associations of local governments, o<strong>the</strong>r local government employees, members of <strong>the</strong><br />

academic community, and concerned citizens who share <strong>the</strong> goal of improving local government.<br />

The purposes of <strong>the</strong> Association are to enhance <strong>the</strong> quality of local government through professional<br />

management and to support and assist professional local government administrators internationally.<br />

The Association offers:<br />

! technical assistance for local government professionals to help <strong>the</strong>m improve <strong>the</strong>ir skills<br />

and increase <strong>the</strong>ir knowledge.<br />

! publications on various subjects.<br />

! a clearinghouse for <strong>the</strong> collection, analysis, and dissemination of information and data<br />

about local government.<br />

The Association for Pennsylvania Municipal Management is an organization of professional<br />

township, borough, city, home rule and county managers, administrators and Council of Government<br />

directors. Its purposes are to improve <strong>the</strong> effectiveness of <strong>municipal</strong> managers and administrators,<br />

maintain high ethical standards of <strong>the</strong> profession, promote professional administration in<br />

communities, and provide a means whereby those professionals may interchange ideas, experiences<br />

and obtain expert advice.<br />

The Association offers:<br />

! a handbook, quarterly newsletter, and a monthly employment opportunities listing.<br />

! a series of one day professional training opportunities on <strong>the</strong> topics and issues of<br />

immediate importance to <strong>municipal</strong> managers.<br />

! an annual conference which provides a forum for <strong>the</strong> exchange of ideas and presentations<br />

by experts.<br />

! a program to assist members who find <strong>the</strong>mselves out of a job through no fault of <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
