According to Statistics Estonia, CFC emissions were 14
kg in 2007 (figure 4.9), which is over 100 times less than in
1998. In 2003, atmospheric emissions of fully halogenated
CFCs rose. The reason may be that CFCs were used while
it was still possible – before accession to the European
Union and the entry into force of the new restrictions. In
2004, atmospheric emissions fell significantly and have
remained around 2–30 kg.
HCFC emissions are much higher than in the case of
CFCs but they have less depleting impact on the ozone
layer. In 1998, 1,567 kg of HCFC emissions were generated
in Estonia. This figure was down to 188 kilograms
in 2007.
