The Census Bureau’s special tabulation also provides counts of persons 60+ at or below
150% of poverty by community within Region 1-C (see Table 14). While the counts add
little to the discussion, they do serve to reinforce the way need is distributed in the region.
Dearborn accounts for the highest share of all seniors at or below 150% at 14.4 percent,
followed by Livonia and Westland at 9.1 and 9.2 percent, respectively. Only Dearborn
Heights, Redford township and Taylor, among the remaining 31 communities, account
for more than 5 percent.
