The number of children under and over one year
vaccinated in 1993 decreased compare to those
vaccinated in 1978. This may reflect the declining of
population growth rate in the region observed above.
Percentage coverage was higher 1997 than it was in
1978 and 1993.

AIDS:
HIV/AIDS disease is currently one of the leading causes of deaths
in many regions in the country. According to NACP, Surveillance
Report (1994) produced by the Ministry of Health shows that
HIV is spreading very fast in the region. In 1985, the reported
aids cases were only 8, whereas in 1993 the number of cases
increased to 2,279.
