GWh, of which 19 864 GWh (56 % of the total energy at national level) haven
been generated by renewable energies and 15 872 GWh (44 % of the total energy
at national level) have been generated with non renewable energy. In Chart Nº 6,
and Graphics Nº 14 and 15, it is provided more details of the electricity
generation by type of technology.

1.3.12.1 Energy Generation the Interconnected National Electrical System
During 2010, the energy generation in the SEIN was 33 077 GWh, of which 58,4
% correspond to Hydroelectric Power Stations, 0,2 % to biomass (bagasse), 35,4
% to natural gas; and, the difference corresponds to generation from coal, diesel
and residual oil, as it can be seen in Graphic Nº 16. The electricity generation
based on renewable energies was principally hydroelectric; however, the
participation of this technology in the electricity matrix has decreased over the
