SUMMARY REPORT<br />

<strong>for</strong> <strong>Conduct</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kozloduy</strong> <strong>NPP</strong><br />

<strong>Stress</strong> <strong>Tests</strong><br />

Quality control during maintenance and repairs is per<strong>for</strong>med by highly qualified, authorized<br />

personnel to the extent specified in the documents to carry out an activity.<br />

All activities are per<strong>for</strong>med according to approved plans, programs and procedures.<br />

For the facilities under regulatory control periodic technical reviews shall be conducted to<br />

make sure that they are operable and their safe operation is possible.<br />

Design, engineering, technology, installation, operational and maintenance documentation<br />

<strong>of</strong> the facilities under regulatory control is developed in compliance with the requirements <strong>of</strong> the<br />

NRA <strong>for</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>of</strong> the respective work in accordance with the <strong>NPP</strong> design.<br />

Control <strong>for</strong> meeting the requirements <strong>of</strong> normative documents <strong>for</strong> ТН is carried out by the<br />

inspectors <strong>of</strong> departmental technical inspection in sector "internal Departmental Technical<br />

Inspection" <strong>of</strong> Safety Management.<br />

Surveillance Program <strong>for</strong> Units 1 to 4 Equipment [95] and Surveillance Program <strong>for</strong> Units 5<br />

and 6 Equipment [96] have been introduced. They take into account requirements <strong>of</strong> the Safety<br />

Analysis <strong>Report</strong> <strong>for</strong> the facilities, technical specifications, results <strong>of</strong> the safety systems reliability<br />

analyses. The programs are aimed at maintaining the availability <strong>of</strong> equipment and validation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

limits and conditions during operation.<br />

Maintenance and repair activities, nondestructive testing <strong>of</strong> metal, modernization and<br />

reconstruction, certification and testing <strong>of</strong> equipment, including their qualification are included in<br />

the "Program <strong>of</strong> units 3 and 4 lifetime management" [97] and "Program <strong>of</strong> units 5 and 6 lifetime<br />

management" [98]. The selection <strong>of</strong> SSCs subject to monitoring and evaluation <strong>of</strong> the remaining<br />

lifetime is made to considering their classification and qualification, and their importance <strong>for</strong><br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance <strong>of</strong> safety functions. The list <strong>of</strong> safety related systems and components subject to repair<br />

and maintenance <strong>of</strong> units 5 and 6 has been approved [99].<br />

To implement these programs specialized units and structures have been established. For<br />

each activity written procedures are developed in accordance with quality assurance system. The<br />

activities are carried out by qualified personnel.<br />

Safe operation <strong>of</strong> hydraulic facilities and all activities <strong>for</strong> the control <strong>of</strong> their condition as<br />

well as civil structures is ensured by a separate structure - Workshop "Hydraulic facilities and civil<br />

structures" <strong>for</strong> effective lifetime management. Seismic monitoring <strong>of</strong> the facilities and K<strong>NPP</strong> site<br />

and cadastral services within the company have been conducted.<br />

Lifetime management includes passport provision, review <strong>of</strong> the status and development <strong>of</strong><br />

engineering and construction facilities through dedicated observations and measurements, programs<br />

<strong>for</strong> comprehensive and 72-hour tests <strong>of</strong> newly constructed facilities and equipment, testing after<br />

repair and reconstruction, development and/or ensuring measures <strong>for</strong> corrective effects on the<br />

facilities, control <strong>of</strong> changes.<br />
