Thence Ghakra-tt-dzhvdn (<strong>the</strong> Archangel Discus), Ganitmdii',<br />
called <strong>the</strong> Large-foot {Pcriija-tiruvadi), Vishvakascna, <strong>the</strong> Lord<br />
<strong>of</strong> Hosts, and <strong>the</strong>n ascending tlie steps <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Hasti-Giri (or<br />
Elephant-Hill), Lord Yarada was reached, Kanchi-purna all<br />
<strong>the</strong> time leading, and Ramannja following. Ramanuja threw<br />
himself before Iiis old Patron God, and receiving t'trtha, pi-asdda^<br />
and Sathaki'ipa, returned witli mind steeped in divine bliss.<br />
He informed Purna <strong>of</strong> his intention te proceed north to<br />
Tirupati to visit <strong>the</strong> Lord Venkata. Purna congratulated EamS,-<br />
nuja on <strong>the</strong> jojf that was in<br />
store for him by <strong>the</strong> intended trip,<br />
and bade him god-speed. He was journeying on thus with liis<br />
adherents, when he lost his way. On looking round, a man<br />
was found drawing w-ater from a well. " Show us <strong>the</strong> way,<br />
good man," he asked. "This way, gentlemen", said he<br />
showing <strong>the</strong> way. " In what way can I show my gratitude to<br />
this person ?" Questioning himself thus, Ra,manuja prostrated<br />
himself before <strong>the</strong> pikotta-man. Seeing this, all <strong>the</strong> disciples<br />
did <strong>the</strong> same, astonished though at R9.mfi,nuja's spiritual views<br />
<strong>of</strong> men and things,—uncommon <strong>of</strong> course to o<strong>the</strong>r men. The<br />
track shown was a straight one, and led unmistakably to <strong>the</strong><br />
foot <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Tirupati Hill. Here <strong>the</strong> Ten AzhvEirs are<br />
enshrined. Due obei.sance was made to <strong>the</strong>m and <strong>the</strong> Holy Hill<br />
itself, rising from <strong>the</strong>re in sacred grandeur. Rd^manuja would<br />
not mount <strong>the</strong> hill for fear <strong>of</strong> desecrating it with <strong>the</strong> touch <strong>of</strong><br />
his feet ; and so remained at <strong>the</strong> foot for some time, when.<br />
' Meaning:—Spouse beloved <strong>of</strong> Varada, praise to Thee.<br />
—In traits Three, perfect,^—In Lotus ever abiding,<br />
—Mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> worlds.<br />
The Three Traits are jlimiu/drftaf- God." These are mysteries <strong>of</strong> rora,<br />
Ananyaseshafra ,<br />
and Ananya- ligion which can never be properly<br />
hhogatva, meaning <strong>the</strong> Three re- understood by means <strong>of</strong> oven <strong>the</strong><br />
