day, a certain blasphemous exegetic by Y&dava <strong>of</strong> a Vedapassago<br />
excited and pained Ramauuja and drew forth burning<br />
tears from his eyes, which accidentally fiiUing on Yadava's<br />
ihigh scorched liini like fire ; how on liis challenging, Ranianuja<br />
gave his beautiful interpretation that <strong>the</strong> pa.S:-age meant that<br />
God's eyes resembled <strong>the</strong> lotus opening under <strong>the</strong> sun's i-aya,<br />
and how this and o<strong>the</strong>r disputations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sort led to <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
separation; Y&dava's plot on his life and <strong>the</strong> rest <strong>of</strong> events,<br />
adventurous and miraculous, which followed <strong>the</strong>reafter in<br />
succession.<br />
YamunachElrya heard this account with rapt attention and<br />
exclaimed :<br />

" The bad are legion like fire-sparlcs in a furnace.<br />
But <strong>the</strong> good, ij jound in <strong>the</strong> fire, are like lotuses <strong>the</strong>rein."<br />
So saying he felt a great longing to immediately go and<br />
see liam&nuja. . He repaired to <strong>the</strong> Lord Ranganatha and taking<br />
leave <strong>of</strong> Him, left Srlrangam with his followers. On his way,<br />
paying houor.s to God Nayanar and <strong>the</strong> Three First Azhvars at<br />
Tirukkoilur', reached Kanclii in due tirat!.<br />
Tirukkacchi-nambi,'' on hearing his Acharya coming,<br />
ga<strong>the</strong>red toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> holy people <strong>of</strong> Kanchi, and with Sri<br />
Sathagopa, Tirthaanl Praidda <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Temple <strong>of</strong> Varadaraia,<br />
went forward to meet and welcome him. Yamunicharya<br />
received <strong>the</strong> Holy gifts <strong>of</strong> God, and seeing Tirukkacchi-Nambi,<br />
his disciple, lying prostrate at his feet for joy and veneration<br />
for <strong>the</strong> Guru, lifted him up with affection and inquired:—<br />
"Gajendradasa!" art thou steady at thy fanning service to<br />
Lord Var.ida ? '' " By your grace, Sire, The Lord is accepting<br />
my humble services," said he. And <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong>y proceeded<br />
