8. TAmunachfLrya when lie was at K&nchi-pura on a visit,<br />
and saw RELmflinuja, following in <strong>the</strong><br />
train <strong>of</strong> yi!idava-praka.sa,<br />
pointed him out to his disciples, saj-ing; :—" Look, He will be<br />
<strong>the</strong> first leader <strong>of</strong> our faith."<br />
9. Mah&piirna proved llatnanuja's greatness thus :—One<br />
day he and his daughter AttulAy-amnia, were seated in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
house, when llamilnuja happened to enter with his train <strong>of</strong><br />
disciples. MSihitpiirna at once got up and prostrated him.self<br />
before him. His daugliter asked him how he could do such<br />
an act <strong>of</strong> obeisance to Kaminuja, who was his disciple. Purna<br />
replied "<br />
: Those feet and this head are a match to each o<strong>the</strong>r."<br />
Ano<strong>the</strong>r day RAmAnuja was returning from his bath in <strong>the</strong><br />
K3,veri, when MahApuriia meeting him did obei.sance. But<br />
Rimanuja stood erect instead <strong>of</strong> returning this customary<br />
homage, and simply lifted up his Guru. Ra,manuja's disciples<br />
asked him to explain his unusual conduct. He said ;<br />
" My<br />
Guru wishes to please him.SL'lf by honoring me. If that is his<br />
pleasure, it is my pleasure. I should not cross him ." The<br />
disciples next asked Purna to explain his unusual behaviour.<br />
" He said :— " Sirs, I saw in RaiiiJlnujamy own Guru—Yamuna<br />
after my own Gum, all <strong>the</strong> perfections <strong>of</strong> a Guru find <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
haven in Ramitnuja." And Pilrna made liis own son Pundarikftksha<br />
<strong>the</strong> disciple <strong>of</strong> R4mAnuja.<br />
10. It has already been related, that Goshthi-purna—<strong>the</strong><br />
second Guru <strong>of</strong> Ramanuja,—revealed <strong>the</strong> secrefs <strong>of</strong> religion to<br />
Rimanuja by exacting a promise that he would not impart <strong>the</strong><br />
same lo o<strong>the</strong>rs; but tliat Rftniaiiuja broke <strong>the</strong> promise auon by<br />
openly declaring <strong>the</strong> secrets (o all in <strong>the</strong> Temple ; that Purna<br />
became wroth on coming to know this and demanding an explanation<br />
from Ramfiuuja, <strong>the</strong> latter<br />
confessed his fault, but sub-<br />
