"Be it as thou wiliest," said Ramftnuja, graciously lifting <strong>the</strong><br />

prostrate form <strong>of</strong> Devartlt, for whom he composed a work<br />

called Nityavi, or <strong>the</strong> method <strong>of</strong> worshipping God, and appointed<br />

him to <strong>the</strong> daily-worship-duty in <strong>the</strong> math. Prom that day<br />

forth, he never left Ramatiuja's side, and drank deep all<br />

<strong>the</strong> precious truths <strong>of</strong> <strong>philosophy</strong> and i-eligion which flowed<br />

like honey from RS,m9,nnia'a holy lips. These sterling truths<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Vedanta, he embodied in two short treaties <strong>of</strong> his, composed<br />

in Tamil verse, called Jndna-sdra, and Framcya-sdra}<br />

The substance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se works is (1) that to <strong>the</strong> true disciple,th&<br />

Teacher himself is God visible, and (2) that services at his feet<br />

are <strong>the</strong> crowning joy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> soul.<br />
