before Lord Varada in silent contemplation, hands folded.<br />
think thou hast something to ask <strong>of</strong> me," Lord Varada said.<br />
" Yes, Most High ! Ramanuja has a few doubts, which lie has<br />
asked me to submit to you and obtain answers,—some doubts,<br />
he has not told me what." " I know <strong>the</strong>m," said Varada,' " ho<br />

learnt many things and in many quarters. Now he has six<br />
doubts in hi.s mind. Here are <strong>the</strong> six answers <strong>the</strong>reto :<br />
1. I am <strong>the</strong> Supreme Truth (para-talvam),<br />
2. / and souls are different (bheda),<br />
3. By faith shall men reach Me, <strong>the</strong>ir scdvatlmi.<br />
4. I'hought <strong>of</strong> Me at time <strong>of</strong> death {antinia- smriti)<br />
is not compukory {on My faithful),<br />

5. Release from bondage{m.oksha) follows iinmedi'ately<br />
on death (<strong>of</strong> body),<br />
6. Choose Mahupurna for your AchCnya?<br />
Kauchi-purnareverenth' received this message and with-^<br />
drew. The next moj-ning, he hailed Ramannja with intense<br />
ji)y and communicated to him <strong>the</strong> divine message. " Were<br />
<strong>the</strong>se your doubts, Sire!" he asked. "Yes, your Holiness<br />
I pi-ostrate to you for it most heartily," said Ramanuja.<br />
Purna wa.s struck by this strange coincidence, and henceforth,<br />
(suiting <strong>the</strong> action to <strong>the</strong> vvoi-d) looked upon Kamannja as <strong>the</strong><br />
destined Saviour.<br />
