to <strong>the</strong> south, going to Tirumal-irun-jfilai (10 miles north <strong>of</strong><br />

Madura), and o<strong>the</strong>r Shrines, in <strong>the</strong> Pfi,ndya-mandala and held<br />

disputations <strong>the</strong>re with <strong>the</strong> learned on <strong>philosophy</strong> and won<br />

laurels. Thence he travelled to Tiru-p-pull£i,ni (Darbhasayanam<br />

near ES,mnM), S6tu (or E&m&'s Bridge), and returned to<br />

Tirunagari,<br />
