schemingR agaicst<strong>the</strong> Vaishnavas inasmuch as <strong>the</strong>ir strongliolds,<br />
<strong>the</strong> E&mayana and <strong>the</strong> MahabhArata could never be i-epressed,<br />
thoagh he might demolish all <strong>the</strong> Vaishnava temples on earth,<br />
and had also suffered reverses <strong>of</strong> fortune on nccount ' <strong>of</strong> Ihe<br />
sins <strong>of</strong> his fa<strong>the</strong>r, heating <strong>of</strong> Ra,manuja's arrival, repaired to<br />
Srirangam in haste, taking with him <strong>the</strong> PAndya and Chera<br />
Kings. Approaching Ra.mS,nuja, he fell at his feet and craved<br />
pardon for his fa<strong>the</strong>r's faults. From <strong>the</strong> largeness <strong>of</strong> his heart,<br />
BamSiQUJa granted it ; and took Kulottnnga, by his request,<br />
into <strong>the</strong> Vaishnava fold by administering due Sacraments and<br />
made him a disciple <strong>of</strong> DaSarathi. " No more ", cried <strong>the</strong> king,<br />
"shall I exei'cise any jurisdiction over <strong>the</strong> Temples August<br />
Sire. I pray you to assume <strong>the</strong> entire control yourself from<br />
this day." Bamanuja consented, and calling Dasarathi, had<br />
<strong>the</strong> entire administriition <strong>of</strong> tlie Temple formally bestowed on<br />
him as a gift in <strong>the</strong> manner prescribed by <strong>the</strong> Sastras. It is<br />
written in <strong>the</strong> work, called Koil-ozhugu, that a stone inFcripton<br />
to this effect was caused io bs installed at <strong>the</strong> Arya-bhattal<br />
gate.' Bdimsinuja is stated to be past his centenary by this<br />
time.<br />
