Creating an AD Mapping
Before you begin: Make sure that the active directory from which you want to import user details is
registered with inSync. For more information, see Registering an Active Directory.
To create users by importing their details from an active directory:
1. From the Manage menu, select AD Mappings. The AD Mappings page is displayed.
2. Click Create New. The Create AD Mapping wizard is displayed.
3. On the AD Configuration page, enter the following details:
1. In AD mapping name field, enter the name that you want to assign to the AD
mapping.
2. In From AD field, select the active directory from which you want to import user
details. Additional fields will appear based on the configuration of your active
directory.
3. Select the Base DN, Organizational Unit, and AD Group from which you want to
import user details. If required enter details for Department and Country.
4. In Name to be used for creation, select if you want to use common name or logon
name as the user's name.
4. Click Next. The inSync Configuration page of the wizard is displayed.
5. Select the user profile, storage, and user quota that will be applied to the users imported
from the AD based on the filters set on the previous page.
6. Select how you want to import details from the AD and create the users:
If you want to manually import details from the AD to create users, do not
select Auto create/update users.
If you want the AD mapping to periodically (once every 24 hours) check the AD and
create or update users, select Auto create/update users.
