inSync 5.2 Private Cloud – Administrator’s Guide Network Settings Properties The network settings properties are required to configure the port numbers for the inSync Server. Field Description Backup/sync port Through this port the inSync Server accepts backup and inSync share data from the inSync clients. By default, inSync uses the 6061 port for this purpose. Admin UI port This port is used to access the inSync Admin Console. By default, the 6065 port is used for this purpose. HTTPS for the web UI If selected, the inSync Admin Console can only be accessed over secure HTTP (HTTPS) connection. You must upload the certificate and key required for communication over HTTPS. Note: This same certificate and key will also be used for communication between inSync restore interface and inSync Server. For more information, see Loading Certificate and Key for HTTPS Communication. User web access port This port is used to access the inSync Web UI. By default, the 443 port is used for this purpose. User web access URL Through this URL, inSync users can access the inSync Web UI. It must be in the format :. 194
inSync 5.2 Private Cloud – Administrator’s Guide Loading Certificate and Key for HTTPS Communication You can secure the communication between inSync Server and the browser through which you are accessing it by using the HTTPS protocol. If secure communication is enabled, users must user https:// to access the inSync Web interfaces. If you decide to use HTTPS, you must first acquire a certificate and upload it to inSync Server. The certificate used serves two purposes: It secures the communication between the inSync Admin Console and the inSync Server. Resolves the untrusted certificate message that is displayed when users initiate restores. Requests from users to restore data are routed through inSync Web. inSync Web interacts with inSync Server over a secure HTTP connection. To facilitate this secure interaction, a selfsigned certificate is used on inSync Server. However, because a self-signed certificate is used, the users see a untrusted certificate message on their Web browser when they initiate a restore. Before you begin: Before enabling HTTPS for communication between a browser and the inSync Server, you must obtain an SSL certificate from a Certificate Authority and export it without the private key to a folder on your computer. To load a certificate: 1. From the Manage menu, select Settings. The Settings page is displayed. 2. Click the Network tab. 3. In the Network Settings area, click Edit. The Network Settings window appears. 4. Select HTTPS for the web UI and then browse and select the certificate. 5. Click Save.
