inSync 5.2 Private Cloud – Administrator’s Guide Exclude Folders To exclude folders from being backed up by inSync, follow the steps listed below. 1. On the Laptop Backup Content tab, under Folders, select one of the folders (other than Email) from which you want to exclude files and file types during backup. 2. Under Exclude Paths, enter the path to the folder that you want to exclude. Note: Exclude Paths accepts only partial path without quotation marks. For example, the correct path is \Program Files\Data and not “C:\Program Files\Data”. You can enter only one path at a time. Path entries are case sensitive. Including System, App Settings for Backup About System, App Settings Backup Using inSync, you can back up system, application, and user account settings from the following operating systems: Windows XP and above Mac OS 10.6 and above If System, App Settings are backed up, users get the option to restore their system, application, and user account settings when activating inSync Client on additional or replacement devices. However, WAN passwords, internet connection sharing details, shared network configurations, and software and hardware bridge details are not backed up. Email Client For Windows, Outlook 2003 to 2010 settings are backed up. For Macintosh, Apple Mail settings and address book are backed up. Web Browser For Windows, settings for Internet Explorer 7 and above are backed up. For Macintosh, Safari settings are backed up. MS Office For Windows, settings for MS Office 2003 to 2010 are backed up. User account settings For Windows, regional settings, taskbar settings, folder options, wallpaper settings, and so on, are backed up. For Macintosh, passwords saved into keychain are backed up. Note: inSync does not back up settings for all users. It backs up the common computer settings and settings specific to the user associated with the inSync account. inSync backs up only those settings that have been modified by the user. Settings left to their defaults are not backed up. During restores, for settings that have not been modified by the user, no change is made to the defaults on the new device. 91
