<strong>in</strong>ternational crimes should not go unpunished. Sentenc<strong>in</strong>g before the<br />

SCSL has not escaped this anomaly as it has endorsed pr<strong>in</strong>ciples <strong>of</strong><br />

sentenc<strong>in</strong>g as espoused by the decisions <strong>of</strong> the ICTY and the ICTR. To that<br />

end, and as evidenced by the preced<strong>in</strong>g discussion, pr<strong>in</strong>ciples <strong>of</strong> national<br />

law have played a limited role <strong>in</strong> the sentenc<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fenders by the SCSL.
