Due to this phenomenon, the quantumexports of high value added items such asknitwear, bed wear, towels and readymadegarments have shown negative growth during theperiod under review.117

The circular debt problem in the countryremained the major reason for the decline in thepetroleum group exports during July-April 2011-12. Moreover, the share of the petroleum groupalso declined by 1.50 percentage points during theperiod under review.Concentration of ExportsThe process of decrease in concentration of exportsitems continued in the current fiscal year (July-April 2011-12) as the share of other items inoverall exports increased to 39.0 percent againstthe 28.5 percent during 2006-07, a 10.5 percentagepoints increase during the period. Moreover, theshare of the other items category witnessed a 6.2percentage points increase during July-April 2011-12 compared to the same period last year. During 2005-06, 47.2percent of the country’s exports were concentratedin five markets (USA, UK, Germany, Hong Kongand U.A.E.) of the world and remaining share ofall other countries was 52.8 percent.
