Government of Sindh has entered into a jointventure with M/s Engro Powergen (Pvt.)Limited for Coal Mining in Block-II andestablished a Company under Companies Act,1984 viz. “ Sindh Engro Coal MiningCompany” for development of coal mines andinstalling 600-1000 MW Power Plant2. M/s Cougar Energy UK limited has beenallocated Block-III in Thar coalfield forextraction of under ground Coal Gasificationand establishing a 400 MW power plant3. M/s Bin Daen Group, UAE has been allocatedBlock-IV in Thar coalfield for coal mine andinstalling 1000 MW Power Plant4. One block has been allocated to PlanningCommission of Pakistan for a Pilot Project of50 MW based on Underground CoalGasification Project in Block-V5. M/s Oracle Coalfield Plc, UK has beenallocated Block-VI in Thar coalfield fordeveloping coal mine and installing powerplant of 300 MW extendable up to 1000 MW6. M/s China National Machinery Import andExport Corporation of China (CMC)conducted a feasibility study for 400 MWintegrated coal mining and coal fired powerplant at Sonda-Jerrick in district Thatta7. The Government of Sindh is entering into aJoint Venture with M/s Al-Abbas Groupcompany and allocated an area in Badincoalfield for developing coal mine andinstalling Coal-fired Power Plant of 300-600MW14.4 Performance of Major Oil and GasCompaniesDuring 1st July 2011 to 31st March 2012, sofar eight (8) oil and gas discoveries have beenmade in the country.
