The turbinetowers for the first project are beingmanufactured in Pakistan.Issues related to financing of projects havebeen resolved and now leading financingagencies like International FinanceCorporation (IFC), Asian Development Bank(ADB), Organization of the PetroleumExporting Countries (OPIC) and EconomicCooperation Organization (ECO) Trade Banketc. are offering financing to wind powerprojects in Pakistan.Measures taken by Pakistan Council ofRenewable Energy Technologies (PCERT)during this fiscal yearThe Council had also strived to strengthen itsdevelopmental efforts by introducing variousprojects in the public sector for the developmentand promotion of suitable technologies to producematerials and devices in the field of RenewableEnergy despite the number of hurdles in thedevelopment and promotion of renewable energytechnologies. Projects with a cumulative capacity ofapprox. 950 MW are at various stages ofdevelopment on these lands.(ii) BiodieselMain achievements in this fiscal year are: Pilot Energy plantations for Biodieselcultivated on 650 acres under study; Biodiesel production initiated with PSO;First Biodiesel refinery with the capacity of18,000 Tons / annum Capacity has been set upat Karachi.SRO 474(1)12008 exempts custom duties andsales tax on Biodiesel production equipmentand material.Amendments in OGRA Ordinance for Biofuels pricing approved.218
