Thewide range of settings allows the WL toprovide protection for a minimalgenerator capacity for only essentialloads, through full backup for an entirefacility. This dual utility/generatorprotection capability in a single circuitbreaker allows the system designerunparalleled, costeffective flexibility.Type WL Low Voltage Metal-Enclosed SwitchgearExtended Instantaneous Protection(EIP – Patent Pending Feature)Another unique feature of the WL TripUnit, allows the system designer toachieve full selective trip coordination upto the short-time rating of the frame,while also allowing application of thebreaker up to the interrupting rating ofthe frame. EIP allows the WL breaker tobe applied up to the full withstand ratingof the breaker, for complete coordination,with a minus 0% short- time bandtolerance up to 85kA on Frame Size IIand 100kA on Frame Size III. Above faultcurrents of 20% higher than the fullshort-time rating, the WL breaker is selfprotecting, and the EIP function will tripthe breaker instantly to protect the frameand the system from these extremelyhigh currents, as high as 150 kA onFrame Size III.
