Two toggle operated startersare used, with overload protectionincluded for each motor winding.Surface mounting devices, and thosewith a gray flush plate, utilize amechanical interlock which allowsdirect control of the motor by meansof the toggle operators.EnclosuresClass SMF, NEMA Type 1 surfacemounting enclosures are sheet steelwith a thermo-plastic wrap-around coverfor convenience in wiring. The NEMAType 1 enclosure is also available in anoversized version which allows morewiring space. A zinc alloy die casting isused for NEMA Type 4 enclosures.Pilot LightsRed or green neon pilot light unitsare available for flush mounting plates,NEMA Type 1 enclosures, and NEMAType 4 enclosures. Pilot lights may beeither factory or field installed. (Forstarters that contain a pilot light, a Redlight is standard. For a Green pilot lightadd ”G” to the end of the catalognumber.)TerminalsBinding head screw type terminals aresuitable for #10 or smaller copper wire,and are accessible from the front. Allterminals are clearly marked.MountingOpen types without a pilot light fitstandard single gang switch boxes, andcan be used with any cover plate havinga standard toggle cutout. Single-unitflush mounting types, including thosewith pilot lights, are suitable for wallmounting in a standard switch box orfor machine cavity mounting withouta box.OperationAvailable with toggle handle or withremovable key type operator todiscourage unauthorized operation.GeneralClass SMF Starter in a NEMA Type 1Enclosure with Pilot LightEmergency Off ActuatorA toggle operator extender is availablefor Class SMF, NEMA Type 1 surfacemounted units. The extender has a redvinyl button that provides a fast andeasy method for locating and switchingthe device‘s toggle operator into theOFF position.
