11.3.2 Each pipe and fittings may also be marked with the standard mark (ISIMarked).11.4 Pipes and fittings:11.4.1 The internal diameter of barrels of straight pipes, junctions and bends of size100mm to 300mm shall be as per table 9.2.11.4.2 The internal diameter of the barrels of straight pipes for pipes of 100 mm to 350mm shall be within ±3 % of the diameter.11.4.3 The mean thickness of the barrel and the socket of the pipes junctions andbends shall not be less than mean thickness given in col 4 of Table 1 of IS:651: 2007. Such mean thickness of the barrel or sockets of any individual pipejunctions and bends shall be ascertained by making several minimum 4measurements and adding the measured minimum thickness (not in thegroove) to the maximum thickness and dividing the sum by two. The meanthickness of the barrel and socket shall be determined separately.11.4.4 The difference between the minimum and maximum measured thickness ofbarrel and sockets mentioned in para 11.4.2 shall not exceed ±3 % (in mm) for100-350 mm diameter of pipes.11.4.5 Tolerance on angles of bends shall be within ±3º.11.4.6 Socket11.4.6.1 The interior of the socket shall be conical, having a minimum taper of 1 mm,measured on the diameter, per 15 mm length, thus the diameter of a socket 50mm deep will be at least 3 mm greater at the top than at the bottom. The depthof the sockets shall be in accordance with as given in Table 11.2.11.4.6.2 The width of the shoulder of socket of any individual pipe or fitting shall exceedthe mean thickness of the barrel by not less than the values given in Table11.2. If rubber ring joints are used, taper may not be provided.11.4.7 Grooving:-11.4.7.1 The interior of the socket and exterior of the spigots shall be groovedcircumferentially, and such grooving on the spigot shall be for a length equal toone and half times the depth of sockets, and the depth of such grooves shall bebetween 1 mm to 2.5 mm. If rubber ring joints are used, as agreed to betweenthe manufacturer and the buyer, grooving may not be provided.11.4.8 Bends :-11.4.8.1 Dimensions of bends shall be in accordance with tables 2 to 6 of IS: 651:2007.9.4.8.2 The barrel and branches of half section channel junctions may be of any of thediameters shown in col.2 of table 9.2. But the diameter of the branches shallnot exceed that of the barrel diameter. The angle at junction shall be 45º ±3º or90º ±3º.Urban Administration & Development Department Page 130
