8.7.2 The pipe shall be as uniform as commercially practicable in colour opacity,density <strong>and</strong> other physical properties as per relevant IS code or equivalentInternational Code. The inside surface of each pipe shall be free of scouring,cavities, bulges, dents, ridges <strong>and</strong> other defects that result in a variation ofinside diameter from that obtained on adjacent unaffected portions of thesurface. The pipe ends shall be cut clearly <strong>and</strong> perpendicular to the axis of thepipe.8.8 Marking :8.8.1 Each straight length of pipe shall be clearly marked in indelible ink/paint oneither end <strong>and</strong> for coil at both ends or hot embossed on white base every meterthroughout the length of pipe/coil with the following information:(a) Manufacturer's name/Trade-mark.(b) Designation of pipe(c) Lot number/Batch number.8.8.2 BIS Certification MarkingEach pipe may also be marked with St<strong>and</strong>ard Mark.8.9 Testing of Pipe :8.9.1 HDPE pipes are subjected to following tests :-8.9.1.1 Internal pressure creep rupture test8.9.1.2 Longitudinal Revision Test8.9.1.3 Overall Migration Test8.9.1.4 Density8.9.1.5 Melt Flow Rate (MFR)8.9.16 Carbon Black Content <strong>and</strong> Dispersion8.10 H<strong>and</strong>ling, Transportation storage <strong>and</strong> Lowering of pipes.8.10.1 If transportation of HDPE pipes from a distance greater than 300km than pipesshall be received only when bare coils of pipe have been wrapped with hessiancloth.8.10.2 The truck use for transportation of the PE pipes shall be exclusively used of PEpipes only with no other material loaded-especially no metallic, glass <strong>and</strong>wooden items. The truck shall not have sharp edges that can damage the pipe.8.10.3 At the time of opening coils it must be remembered that the coiled undertension <strong>and</strong> must be open in control manner. Straight length should be storedon horizontal racks giving continuous support. Loss/damages during transit,8.10.4 During h<strong>and</strong>ling, transportation, storage <strong>and</strong> lowering, all sections shall beh<strong>and</strong>led by such means <strong>and</strong> in such a manner that no distortion or damage isdone to the section or to the pipes as a whole.8.10.5 Pipes must no be stored or transported where they are exposed to heatsources likely to exceed 60º C.Urban Administration & Development Department Page 92
