4.10.1.7 For high pressure mains, requiring working pressure greater than 2.4 MPa,suitable flexible joint may be preferred where the joint is restrained against axialmovement.4.10.1.8 Push-on-joint fittings are normally not used for sizes above DN 1600.4.11 Rubber GasketsThe material of rubber gaskets for use with mechanical joints <strong>and</strong> push-on-jointsshall conform to IS: 5382. Unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer<strong>and</strong> the purchaser. Dimensions of the rubber gasket shall be as per4.12 Anchoring of the pipeline:Thrust block shall be provided at each bend, tee, taper, end piece to preventundue movements of the pipeline under pressure. They shall be constructed asper design of engineer-in-charge according to the highest pressure duringoperation or testing of the pipes, the safe bearing pressure of the surrounding soil<strong>and</strong> the friction coefficient of the soil.4.13 MeasurementThe net length of pipes as laid or fixed should be measured in running meterscorrect to a cm. specials should be excluded <strong>and</strong> enumerated <strong>and</strong> paidseparately.
