15.17.15.7.1 Ordinarily no surplus stock shall remain on completion of any section. In casehowever, such pipe etc. become surplus in any sections, the contractor shallremove the same to the next section for use in the work.15.17.15.7.2 It is likely that on completion of the whole work, some pipes <strong>and</strong> specials etc.may become surplus at the site <strong>and</strong> the contractors shall arrange to h<strong>and</strong> overthe same in good condition to the Engineer or to return to the store.15.17.15.7.3 The contractor shall supply a list of stock so returned to the engineer. No extrapayment shall be made to the contractors for these works. The rates for layingthe pipes shall cover the cost of loading, transporting <strong>and</strong> unloading as may berequired.15.17.15.8 The cutting of pipes for inserting valves, fittings or specials shall be done in aneat <strong>and</strong> workman like manner without damage to the pipe so as to leave asmooth end at right angles to the axis of the pipe. For this purpose, pipe cuttingmachine shall be used.15.17.16 Jointing15.17.16.1 Pipes shall be laid to the lines <strong>and</strong> grades given in the plans, with the endsabutting to form a even joint without shoulders or unevenness of any kind alongthe invert of the pipes. No joint shall be made under water. The ends of thepipes shall be dry <strong>and</strong> kept clean before <strong>and</strong> during laying <strong>and</strong> jointingoperations.15.17.16.2 All joint work shall be done in an approved manner by skilled workmen so thatthe completed pipeline shall have a continuous, smooth <strong>and</strong> uniform interiorsurface. Extruded joint material shall be removed from the interior of the pipe.In cold weather protective measures must be taken to ensure a satisfactoryjoint.15.17.16.3 Jointing for pipes <strong>and</strong> fittings / special shall be done in accordance with therelevant specifications depending on type of pipes being used.15.17.17 Thrust Block, Anchor Block, Valve Room, Manholes, Head walls, Saddlesupports etc. (See Drawing No.-20 for Thrust Block)15.17.17.1 The contractor shall build manholes, inlet manholes, inlets, junction chambers,headwalls, culverts, anchor blocks, thrust block <strong>and</strong> such other miscellaneousstructures that may be required at the locations shown by the engineer <strong>and</strong> ofsuch forms, dimensions <strong>and</strong> materials as are shown in the st<strong>and</strong>ard detail or asmay be specified or directed. These structures shall also include the installationof such specials <strong>and</strong> connections to pipes <strong>and</strong> other structures as may berequired to complete the constructions as shown in the drawings.15.17.18 closure sections <strong>and</strong> connections to structures15.17.18.1operations. Connections to pipe specials shall be made as approved by theEngineer. Lining <strong>and</strong> coating of the pipe lines, which must be cut to provide forclosure pieces or to permit the proper location of valves structure shall berepaired by the contractor. No separate payment will be made for closurepieces installed.
