The filteredtap was not far from his home. Before he reachedthe tap, a drone missile hit the ground near him andhe was hit by shrapnel in his L leg.Others killed/injured in same event: Patient’s sonalso hit; sustained minor injuryEvacuation and care inside Gaza: The patient, whowas bleeding considerably, was evacuated by anambulance called by neighbours, which arrived in10-15 minutes. He was taken to Kamal EdwanHospital; the journey took about 10 minutes. He washospitalised for about 10 days and received externalfixation of his fracture. The hospital dischargedhim but the wound became infected and after onemonth he ‘got help’ for a transfer to MaqassadHospital in East Jerusalem.Evacuation out of Gaza: The ambulance journeythrough Erez Crossing was fast - it took 10 minutesto enter; someone with gloves swept over his bodyto look for powder 3 and then he was scanned bysomeone else very quickly; he does not recall details.3According to many patients, procedures at Erez included a body check withgloves whose aim was to check for any residue of explosive materials.
