Dr. Qdeih’sbrother, Iyad Qdeih, reported to PHR-Israel staff that he and his family left thebasement under cover of the march and moved first to a school for shelter, and then,because the school was full, to a hospital. His group included two children and IyadQdeih’s wife, who was 8 months pregnant with twins.9. Dr. Qdeih described his injuries as ‘severe shrapnel injuries to the abdomenexposing his intestines’. Although Samia Abu Daka and Ramadan Qdeih thoughthe looked about 9 or 10, Dr. Qdeih said that he later discovered this child to be hisrelative, a boy called Bader Qdeih, aged 6.Samia said:I was so weak and terrified myself that we ran for our lives leaving the childbehind. This scene now tortures me and I feel guilty. He was like my son - thesame age.
