On theday of the incident she was playing with her elder9-year-old sister in one of the rooms of the house.The whole family was at home in another room. Amissile hit a car in front of the house. The explosiondestroyed the door of the house and the room wherethe two sisters were playing. No one in the familyrealized where the missile was coming from or hadany notice or warning about the attack.Others killed/injured in same event: The patient’ssister was injured.Evacuation and care inside Gaza: The patient’sfather took the two sisters to Shuhada’ Al AqsaHospital himself, since there was destruction andconfusion on the street and it was difficult forambulances to reach the place. The patient’s sisterwas admitted while the patient was transferred byambulance to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City due to theseverity of her wounds. Her sister is recovering fromher wounds in Gaza, but will need plastic surgeryto reconstruct the right side of her face, which hasbeen badly damaged by the explosion.Evacuation out of Gaza: On 13 Jul 2014 the patientwas transferred to Medinat Hussein Al TibbeyaHospital in Amman, Jordan, where, after a few daysin ICU, she is now in the paediatric rehabilitationward. She has undergone several operations in herlegs, mainly for debridement. Reconstructive surgerywill take place at a later stage.Comments on displacement: The patient’s home is172
