5.1 Rafahpatient’s home was struck by a missile. One manwas in the house and was injured in his leg. Hestarted walking away from the house, an ambulancearrived and people gathered around. All the peoplepresent were then hit by 2 missiles from an aircraft.According to the patient at second interview, a‘roof-knock’ (warning) missile first hit the roof of herhome. Glass shattered, killing the patient’s cousinoutright. All the inhabitants ran out of the houseand a second missile from an F-16 aircraft struckthe ground near the house and shrapnel hit thepatient. According to the patient, an ambulance wasalready there because of a wounded man (possiblythe same person described as having injured his legin an attack on his home in the first interview-Ed.).Others killed/injured in same event: According tothe witness at first interview, 10 people were killedincluding 2 of the patient’s brothers, 2 uncles, heruncle's wife and her uncle, leaving behind a 2-yearoldorphan (cf. testimony of patient’s cousin atEJJ3a/EJJ3-Ed.).Evacuation and care inside Gaza: An ambulance(additional to the one already there-Ed.) wascalled for the patient but was delayed, soneighbours carried the patient to the entranceof the neighbourhood and transferred her to theambulance. Evacuation was about 15-20 minutesafter the incident. The patient was taken to AbuYousef Al Najjar Hospital but there was no suitableequipment and she was transferred to the EuropeanHospital in Khan Younis, where she spent 4 days.External fixation was provided as well as bloodtransfusions. It took 4 additional days to coordinatereferral from the European Hospital to EastJerusalem.5. Southern Gaza / RafahEvacuation out of Gaza: The patient was transferredto St Joseph Hospital in East Jerusalem on 29 Jul2014 (the day of the first interview-Ed.), where,according to the second interview, the externalfixation was revised. She also received severaladditional blood transfusions. Comment at secondinterview: Good function of both legs, including Rthigh; bends at hip and knees bilaterally.205
