White Paper on Public Sector ReformThe Ministry of the Civil Service has distributed a Logo and slogan ‘MakingBarbados Work Better’ to help give an identity to public sector reform. Inaddition, other print material such as brochures, posters, stickers and bookmarkers, have been distributed to all Ministries and Departments for use byemployees. A Newsletter entitled ‘A Challenge to Change’ has beendistributed in January 1997 to all government agencies. The purpose of theNewsletter is to share information on events throughout the public sector.Public information and education programmes on the functioning of the publicsector will be strengthened and expanded to keep citizens abreast of the servicesavailable through government agencies. Specifically, the information willinclude:• the reason the organisation exists and its objectives;• the structure in place to deliver the services or variety of services itprovides;• where and how services can be obtained and if applicable, the cost ofobtaining such services;• the persons whom the public may wish to contact in cases of grievancesregarding the quality and delivery of such services; and• measures of redress.Government agencies will be required to prepare brochures/pamphlets of suchinformation for public information, within specific time frames. The marketingof these services will be facilitated through the Government InformationServices or other private sector marketing agencies as circumstances permit.
