Western National Mutual Insurance CompanyIOWA HOMEOWNER RULESRule 11 – Additional And Secondary Locations11.1 Same State11.1.1 Separate PolicyCoverage for an additional or secondary location in the same state that meets theeligibility requirements set forth in this manual can be provided by issuing a separatepolicy. Personal liability coverage can be deleted from the policy that covers theadditional location if liability coverage for the additional residence premises occupied byan insured is added to the policy that covers the primary location.Use the rating information shown in this manual to determine the premium for theadditional location. If appropriate, apply the credit shown in Rule 11.3 for the deletion ofpersonal liability coverage.On the primary policy, use the rating information shown in Rule 8.5 to make a liabilitycharge for the additional residence premises occupied by an insured.11.2 Other StateCoverage for an additional or secondary location in another state that meets the eligibilityrequirements set forth in this manual can be provided by issuing a separate policy. Thecompany that issues the policy for the additional location must be licensed to write homeownerspolicies in the state where the additional premises is located.Personal liability coverage can be deleted from the policy that covers the additional location ifliability coverage for the additional residence premises occupied by the insured is added to thepolicy that covers the primary location.To determine the premium for the additional location, use the rating information shown in themanual applicable in the state in which the additional premises is located.Use the rating information shown in the manual applicable in the state in which the primaryresidence is located to make a liability charge for the additional residence occupied by aninsured.11.3 Credit For Liability CoverageAs noted in Rules 11.1 and 11.2, personal liability coverage can be deleted from a policy thatcovers an additional or secondary location. Western National Mutual Insurance CompanyIOWA HOMEOWNER RULESConstruction DefinitionsMasonryA building with walls of masonry veneered construction is to be classified as Masonry.FrameA building with walls of frame, or metal-sheathed or stuccoed frame construction, or with walls of metalor metal lath and plaster on combustible supports is to be classified as Frame.Mixed ConstructionA building is to be classed as Frame when the wall area of frame construction (including gables)exceeds 33-1/3% of the total wall area.Fire Protection DefinitionsThe location of the building(s) determines its fire protection classification as defined below:ProtectedBuildings located within five road miles of a responding fire department and:• Within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant; or• Within 1,000 feet of a year-round water source of at least 3,500 gallons and the responding firedepartment is equipped to respond with pumper truck capabilities; or• The responding fire department is equipped to respond with pumper/tanker truck capabilities of atleast 3,500 gallonsare to be classified as Protected.Partially ProtectedBuildings located within five road miles of a responding fire department but that do not otherwise qualifyfor the Protected classification are to be classified as Partially Protected.UnprotectedBuildings that do not qualify for the Protected or Partially Protected classifications are to be classifiedas Unprotected.7-1-2010 IA - Rules - 35 General RulesIncludes copyrighted material with permission of American Association of Insurance Services
