WESTERN NATIONAL MUTUAL INSURANCEPersonal Automobile ManualRule 4.Classifications And Rating FactorsThis rule does not apply to risks rated in accordance withthe Miscellaneous Types Rule unless otherwise specified.Refer to Section C. below for definitions of terms used inthis rule.A. Autos Owned by an Individual, or OwnedJointly by Two or More Relatives or ResidentIndividuals are classified as follows:1. Primary Classificationa. Classify the auto according to the age,sex <strong>and</strong> martial status of the operators,the use of the auto <strong>and</strong> the eligibility ofyouthful operators for the Good Studentclasses, <strong>and</strong>b. Refer to the Class Plan Pages to determinethe appropriate classification <strong>and</strong>to determine the applicable factor(s) fromthe Primary Rating Factor tables.NOTEThe existence of other vehicles in thehousehold furnished or available forregular use (i.e., company cars, etc.) willbe taken into consideration for classificationpurposes.2. Secondary Classificationa. Performance VehiclesVehicles identified as High Performance,Sports, Sports Premium, <strong>and</strong> Exotic willrequire special consideration <strong>and</strong> mustbe referred to the underwritingdepartment before coverage can bebound. For a listing see page PA-23.b. Determine if the auto is:(1) A single car, or(2) Part of a multi-car risk.c. Refer to the Secondary Rating Factortable to determine the appropriate factorto be added to, or subtracted from thePrimary Rating Factor.3. Classification ChangesCompute premium adjustments on a pro ratabasis when changes in Primary <strong>and</strong>Secondary Rating Classifications are made.This includes the addition or deletion of anoperator during the policy term.Exceptions1. A policy may be changed mid-term if anoperator or household member receivesa drivers license.2. A policy may not be changed mid-termbecause of the attained age of an operatorof the auto.3. A policy may not be changed mid-termsolely due to a change in symbol assignment.Rating Symbols may be adjustedon renewal based on the mostcurrent ISO symbol assignment.B. Private Passenger Autos Owned by FarmFamily Co-partnerships, or Farm FamilyCorporationsREFER TO COMMERC<strong>IA</strong>L AUTO PROGRAMC. Definitions1. Use Classificationsa. Business Use means that the use of theauto is required by or customarilyinvolved in the duties of the applicant orany other person customarily operatingthe auto, in an occupation, profession orbusiness, other than going to or from theprincipal place of occupation, professionor business.b.
