WESTERN NATIONAL MUTUAL INSURANCEPersonal Automobile ManualRule 1.DefinitionsA. Private Passenger Auto1. A private passenger auto is a four wheelmotor vehicle, other than a truck type, ownedor leased under contract for a continuousperiod of at least six months; <strong>and</strong>a. Not used as a public or livery conveyancefor passengers;b. Not rented to others.2. A motor vehicle that is a pickup or van shallbe considered a private passenger auto if it;a. Has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of10,000 lbs. or less, or is a vehicle with aGross Vehicle Weight Rating greaterthan 10,000 lbs. for which a symbol isdisplayed in the Symbol <strong>and</strong> IdentificationManual; <strong>and</strong>b. Is not used for the delivery or transportationof goods or materials unless suchuse is:(1) Incidental to the insured’s businessof installing, maintaining or repairingfurnishings or equipment, or(2) For farming or ranching.A pickup or van used in the business of theUnited States Government, by an employeeof the Government, shall be considered aprivate passenger auto only if;a. It meets the conditions in a. <strong>and</strong> b.above; <strong>and</strong>b. Coverage is limited in accordance withthe Federal Employees Using Autos inGovernment Business endorsementPP 03 <strong>01</strong>.3. A motor vehicle owned by a farm family copartnership,or farm family corporation shallbe considered a private passenger autoowned by two or more relatives who areresidents of the same household if:a. It is principally garaged on a farm orranch; <strong>and</strong>b. It otherwise meets the definitions in 1.<strong>and</strong> 2. above.REFER TO COMPANYB. Auto as used in this manual refers to a privatepassenger auto or a vehicle considered as aprivate passenger auto.C. Liability as used in this manual refers only toBodily Injury <strong>and</strong> Property Damage Coverages.D. Comprehensive Coverage as used in this manualrefers to other than collision damage (OTC)to a motor vehicle.E. Owned as used in this manual includes:1. An auto leased under contract for acontinuous period of at least six months. Ifan auto lease contract requires the lessee toprovide primary insurance for the lessor,attach the Additional Insured-Lessorendorsement PP 03 19.2. A vehicle owned by a trust. Refer to Rule2.E. for eligibility requirements applicable tovehicles owned by a trust.The named insured must have legal title to<strong>and</strong> ownership of the vehicle(s) insured.Vehicles owned by children or other membersof the household must be placed on policiesin their name (subject to eligibility).F. Family Member means a person related to youby blood, marriage or adoption who is a residentof your household.G. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating as used in thismanual refers to the maximum loaded weight forwhich a single vehicle is designed, as specifiedby the manufacturer.H. Farm Truck means all single unit trucks used bythe owner to transport agriculture <strong>and</strong> farmproducts from the farm to market, <strong>and</strong> to transportproperty <strong>and</strong> supplies to the farm. Thedefinition will not include truck tractors, tractors,or semitrailers <strong>and</strong> does not include any haulingfor hire.REFER TO COMMERC<strong>IA</strong>L AUTO PROGRAMI.
