This might apply to an originalobv. copied on Med. III., ii. 217, 540, 11 which agrees insize with <strong>the</strong> Britannia rev. <strong>of</strong> Med. III., i. 535, 185-6 ;see No. 11.No. 26. James II. <strong>The</strong> rev. <strong>of</strong> this medal is Med. III.,1.538, 188, a trial-piece in lead being in Brit. Mus.<strong>The</strong> only obv. in <strong>the</strong> collection <strong>of</strong> dies which fits instyle, size, <strong>and</strong> bordering, is an unfinished medal <strong>of</strong>James II, Med. III., i. 617, 30, <strong>of</strong> which a lead impressionis also in Brit. Mus. Sn. unpub. 8 describes thisobv. as " A head <strong>of</strong> James II, ra<strong>the</strong>r old without inscription". M. Y. Obv. unfinished die ;Rev. puncheon<strong>and</strong> die.27-32. James II. <strong>The</strong>re are four <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> six obv.puncheons, two large, one medium, <strong>and</strong> one small, inYoung's collection, but I have not ventured to appropriate<strong>the</strong>m to <strong>the</strong> respective rev. puncheons, Nos. 1,2, 3, <strong>and</strong> 4, two <strong>of</strong> which are large, two small. Allare <strong>the</strong>refore labelled 27-32. By " struck " Eoettiersevidently means that <strong>the</strong> dies were made, for he specifiesthat nei<strong>the</strong>r obverses nor reverses were coined. Only<strong>the</strong> puncheons are in M. Y.No. 33. James II <strong>and</strong> Prince James. Signed byNorbert. Med. III., ii. 201, 515, or Med. Ill,ii. 202, 516or 517. M. Y.
