F. Amedroz had been a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Societysince 1892, <strong>and</strong> was a frequent visitor to <strong>the</strong> Society'smeetings. A barrister by pr<strong>of</strong>ession, he was also a distinguishedArabic scholar, <strong>and</strong> wrote much on <strong>the</strong> mediaevalhistory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Arabs, <strong>and</strong> edited several Arabic texts. Hecontributed an article to <strong>the</strong> Numismatic Chronicle <strong>of</strong> 1907 on<strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> title" Shahanshah " by <strong>the</strong> Buwayhids.General Sir Albert Houtum-Schindler, K.C.I.E., had beena member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Society since 1875. He lived for manyyears in Persia, where he was engaged in <strong>org</strong>anizing <strong>the</strong>He wrote on <strong>the</strong> history <strong>of</strong> Persia in variousPersian army.
