Buckler,with six o<strong>the</strong>rs similar.<strong>The</strong>se seven coins were selected for <strong>the</strong> Museumfrom what was evidently a small find which had beenin <strong>the</strong> possession <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Mr. A. 0. van Lennep <strong>of</strong>Smyrna. <strong>The</strong> interest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m lies in <strong>the</strong> fact that<strong>the</strong>y are all restruck on Seleucid coins <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> followingtypes :Obv. Tripod.Similar restrikes have been noted byvon Sallet.8<strong>The</strong>se types are found on bronze coins <strong>of</strong> Antiochus I,II, <strong>and</strong> III. It is natural to assume that <strong>the</strong>se coinswere overstruck after <strong>the</strong> evacuation <strong>of</strong> Lysimacheiaby Antiochus III in 190 B. c. But <strong>the</strong> only coin <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong>se types which has been attributed to Antiochus IIIis <strong>of</strong> a much larger module,9<strong>and</strong> it would seem that" Berlin Beschr. d. ant.
