MAVROGORDATO.its contemporaries. <strong>The</strong> ZKVUVOS recorded here mayquite well have been <strong>the</strong> geographer <strong>of</strong> that name ashe flourished circa 90 B. c.<strong>The</strong> lettering throughoutis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ordinary typewith " apices ", a little larger on <strong>the</strong> whole <strong>and</strong>, I think,later than anything included under type No. 66. <strong>The</strong>only unusual form is that <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> H on <strong>the</strong> issues <strong>of</strong>K'Apre/jLiScopos.<strong>and</strong> both have <strong>the</strong>ir uprights prolongedabove <strong>and</strong> below <strong>the</strong> level <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r lettersquite consistently, but <strong>the</strong> later form <strong>of</strong> !, alreadynoted in type No. 67, does not appear.<strong>The</strong> weights, like <strong>the</strong> lettering, support my claim toplace all <strong>the</strong>se coins later than those I have attributedto <strong>the</strong> last period. <strong>The</strong> twenty-three specimens thatI have been able to examine, representing this type<strong>and</strong> Nos. 74 <strong>and</strong> 76, its near contemporaries, average51-9 grains (3-36 grammes), while, as was observed abovewhen commenting on type No. 57, sixty-five specimens<strong>of</strong> types Nos. 63 <strong>and</strong> 66 average 56-2 grains (3-64grammes).
